"Here's how it's played: Before a debate, rival campaigns build up the skills of their opponents while downgrading their own candidate's verbal abilities. That way, any bright moments make a performance seem like a home run....

I've just got to make sure I don't trip walking on the stage,'' joked Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, who complained that the candidates get no opening or closing statements and that responses to questions are limited to 60 seconds...Illinois Sen. Barack Obama cracked, ''It takes me 60 seconds to clear my throat.''"

why are these democrats so insecure? if they plan on stepping up and making change, being a wet noodle is not going to get them, or us as Americans anywhere. If they think this tactic, being the polar opposite of current administration will work, they are sadly mistaken. get with it.

upset about what happened yesterday. and on top of that the immediate gun control debate that ensued. if you address guns you address 'symptoms,' what happened and much of what is happening in USA (not only killings) is indicative of greater underlying problems that everyday media does not have the capacity, nor the audience (which follows from), to delve into.

furthermore, Larry Johnson put yesterday's tragedy into a global perspective, saying that this happens in Iraq on a weekly, if not daily basis. our reaction to it is warranted, but what happened is exceptional in everyday America, wheras in other areas, not so. really a valid point.

between applying for jobs/my semigirlfriend/ trying to decide major, school in general/ trying to decide when to go to vienna/ finding housing/a lack of privacy.. made me realize:

i better get used to the disequilibrium, the uncertainty. this is how it will be from here on out/ until i am sitting on a tropical beach, smoking a cigar and sipping fleishmanns, so it goes.

"The evolutionary biologist E. O. Wilson, in a 1985 paper written with the philosopher Michael Ruse, put the point starkly: ethics “is an illusion fobbed off on us by our genes to get us to cooperate,” and “the way our biology enforces its ends is by making us think that there is an objective higher code to which we are all subject.”" here

i agree
